Retreat description
This session is run in Microsoft Teams by Library Volunteers. The aim of the Online Retreat is to provide a protected space, free from distractions, that allows you the time to focus and reflect on any University work you have to do. This retreat will start at 12:30pm as we welcome guest speaker Kirstyn for an extremely valuable presentation:
Library Support for Getting Published
While you’re working on your dissertation or thesis, you may be dreaming of a wider audience for your academic writing: perhaps distilling your research outcomes into a conference submission, developing them into a journal article, or even pitching a book proposal to the most appropriate publishers in your field.
Naturally you want the widest possible audience for your work! But you don’t want to risk being the victim of plagiarism, piracy or losing control of your IP. And when you reach the point of signing a contract with a publisher, you need to be confident there are no hidden clauses which could disadvantage you.
Join us at 12:30pm on Friday 29 August to hear from Kirstyn Radford, the Library’s Research Outputs Specialist, who will outline some difficulties commonly faced by academic authors and the assistance that Library teams can provide.
Who is this retreat for
This Retreat is solely online, via Microsoft Teams, and is an opportunity to make meaningful progress on your University work in a supportive setting with fellow, like-minded scholars. The aim is to create an online, academic community that you can be a part of in the comfort of your own space - a virtual Library.
Please note that this Retreat is for current University of Hull students only, and you will be required to authenticate your student account upon registration.
