Event description

Outline of the seminar

1. Welcome and Introductions - (5 mins)

2. PGR-led Discussion - (5-20 mins)

PGRs, please take this opportunity to raise any topic at all.

3. ‘PGR Presents 1: 'The mediating role of AI capabilities on intellectual capital and competitive advantage'  Patience Hart from Management in FBLP -  (15 mins plus Q&A 15 mins)

Supported mainly by the resource-based view theory, intellectual capital is said to be at the core of competitive advantage and performance of organizations and nations alike. One aspect of intellectual capital management that begs for research is its interaction with artificial intelligence capabilities. This is particularly important, given the increasing deployment of artificial intelligence systems in developed countries and the increasing realization of its relevance in developing countries, to enhance competitiveness and ensure sustainability. This is the crux of this study, with a contextual focus on higher education institutions in Nigeria and the UK.

4. ‘Speaker No 2: 'Building bridges with Leicester University' Professor Matt Flynn from FBLP  -  (15 mins plus Q&A 15 mins)

As many of you know, I will be formally leaving University of Hull at the end of November for Leicester University. I have spoken with the Graduate Research Director for Leicester and we have agreed that this would be a great opportunity to build bridges between the two faculties.  For this seminar, I am inviting PhD students across the faculty (and indeed across the uni) to come meet some of the students at Leicester. You’ll most likely find someone with a similar research interest with you and hopefully also make a few friends in the process.  If you would like to join in, please let me know the following:

  • Your research topic
  • Your methodology
  • In one sentence ONLY: The contribution to knowledge you are hoping to make.

5. 'Any other business’
