Event description

PG Researchers from across the institution are invited to a new seminar hosted by the Centre for Maths Director, Dr John Fry.  The event has been booked to coincide with the publication of John's work with co-author Matt, Quantitative Methods in Finance using 'R'.  It is also being provided in response to valuable PGR feedback in the recent PRES and through other feedback loops.

We know that many of you use R, and would find it really useful to get additional tips on getting the most out of the package, what it’s really good for, and some examples.

Those who book onto the session will be able to access the linked resources that have been uploaded to the Doctoral College Canvas Site Resources Section. If you have not accepted your invitation to the Doctoral College site (all PGRs are invited), please email the Doctoral College to be added to the Doctoral College Canvas Site – doctoralcollege@hull.ac.uk

John is a Senior Lecturer in Applied Mathematics and has research interests spanning econophysics, mathematical finance, statistics and sports modelling.

Some of John's past work modelling Bitcoin markets has been very highly cited and he jointly won the Tom Fetherstone prize in 2019 for the best paper published in International Review of Financial Analysis in 2016.  This is an opportunity for our PG Researchers and colleagues to put an expert on the spot!!

Did we mention that there will be food?...

Any queries, please contact Pam Doyle,  Head of Research Admin - FOSE
