This workshop is designed as an introduction to the knowledge and skills required when working with archival material from the period 1500-1800, and will provide practical experience of transcribing material from this period.

• Identify common Secretary hand characters and abbreviations
• Understand historical date systems
• Understand historical systems of measures
• Find downloadable bibliographic guides for follow-up reading

Suitable for undergraduates and postgraduates (taught or research), who want a chance to develop their ability to read and understand historical writing, dates and systems of measures.
