Event description

A Talk and Discussion Event - Part of the OpenCampus 'Reflections on Gender and Sexuality' Tea-Time Talk Series for Pride in Hull week.

A talk and discussion on trans lives and trans 'issues': media myths, popular portrayals, community wisdom, and the trans body of knowledge. Drawing from their new book, Trans Like Me: A Journey for All of Us, CN Lester dissects how ignorance of trans people is produced and maintained - and how we can fight back.

CN Lester is a singer-songwriter, writer, classical musician, and trans activist.  They co-founded the first ever national UK group for young LGBT people and has acted as a consultant on trans issues to a broad range of organisations, such as Channel 4, the BBC and the Huffington Post; as well as writing for New Statesmen, New Internationalist and the Feminist Times.
