We’re on the lookout for dreamers, thinkers and visionaries to help shape the future of our campus. If you have any ideas about how it should look, then we need you!

A few weeks ago, we shared the news that we’ve raised £86m of funding to invest in capital (facilities and digital infrastructure) to significantly improve our teaching and learning, transform our working environment, and provide world-class facilities to enhance our research and knowledge exchange.

This funding is part of a wider investment of £250m planned over the next five years to help us achieve the goals we set out in our Strategy 2030 – including becoming a carbon neutral campus in 2027.

We’re already seeing a really positive direction of travel for the University, with improvements in league tables, and the recent REF results, as well as being named in the top 100 for the Times Higher Education impact rankings on UN sustainable development goals. We’re building on this success with this significant financial investment into our campus and we are asking you, our colleagues, who are at the heart of delivering Strategy 2030, to help shape this next phase of our future.  

All ideas welcome

We need your ideas, insight and input to help shape the plans for how to make the biggest impact to our campus. We’ll be holding a an initial workshop on campus 21 June at 1330,to gain a deeper understanding of how people use our campus; challenge assumptions; redefine the campus experience and come up with some innovative ideas we can prototype and test.

This is your opportunity to shape the future of our university's physical and digital campus and we want to hear from students. If you’ve ever felt hesitant to give feedback (but secretly know you have some great ideas!), then you are exactly who we’re looking for!  

What will be involved?

These won’t be any ordinary workshop. You’ll be encouraged to dream big and think differently about our future campus, working through innovative and creative techniques used by visionary companies, such as Apple and Google. These will be safe spaces, where all ideas and contributions are welcome. The workshops are based on the principle that ‘It’s not about coming up with the ‘right idea’, it's about generating the broadest range of possibilities’.

If you are passionate about the future of our university and have ideas to share about our digital and physical campus, then we’d love to hear from you. The first round of workshop is on 21 June. Participants would also need to be available to attend follow-up sessions later in the month and early July.
