Cohen 107 Computer Room
This workshop series serves as an introduction to NVivo and is ideal for any level of student using NVivo for the first time. These interactive workshops will cover all the core features of NVivo.
These are theoretical workshops and due to the time restrictions participants will use sample data. This side of the page will detail what is covered in each workshop and you can find available dates to the right.
Workshop requirements: It is essential that participants are familiar with qualitative analysis.
NVivo A: Getting data into NVivo & coding it will cover:
Use SAGE Research Methods to research different approaches to qualitative analysis
Add data into NVivo (documents, photographs, interview transcripts, videos, audio, etc.)
Manually code your data (assign pieces of text to a theme or other code/case)
Assign your data to a classification (e.g. 'interview' 'photograph' 'journal article')
Use case nodes (assign information about participants to what they say e.g. gender, workplace, nationality etc)
NVivo B: Using web/social media data, memos, annotations & framework matrices will cover:
Use NCapture (Copying web pages or social media posts and adding them as data in NVivo)
Import data from other sources (EndNote, OneNote, Evernote, Survey Monkey etc.)
More on coding techniques (Using spread, range and contextual coding)
