Event description

The ability to assess the impact of research is growing in importance.  This master class covers the concepts of bibliometrics and impact factors and introduces the range of tools available for analysing research impact. It can also help researchers identify which research fronts are trending, and therefore where to focus research efforts and choose where to publish.

By the end of the master class you will be aware of:

  • Understand what is meant by the terms “bibliometrics” and “impact factors”
  • Understand the different metrics which can be used in the quantitative assessment of research
  • Use the main tools which are available for analysis such as Web of Science, Scopus, Journal Citation Reports and Essential Science Indicators
