Event description

The Library subscribes to a wide range of databases which you can use to find quality journal articles. The databases available via the Library spread across a number of subject disciplines and this session will focus on some of those relevant to the arts and social sciences.

The workshop will provide an opportunity to examine the enhanced functionality of databases such as IBSS (International Bibliography of Social Sciences), JSTOR, Literature Online and Project Muse, providing the necessary skills to find quality journal articles.

By the end of the workshop you will be able to:

  • Identify key search terms and discover smart ways to search
  • Conduct an advanced search for journal articles in one or more databases
  • Have an awareness of the additional features available on these databases
  • Export references from the databases into reference management software such as RefWorks or EndNote
